The Department of English of Bankura Zilla Saradamani Mahila Mahavidyapith is one of the oldest centres of Bankura District, where English Literature has been taught since its inception in 1973. Though in its formative stage, the Department enhances the analytic as well as expressive skills of students in an intellectual and interactive atmosphere. In a student friendly atmosphere, the classes are lively, nurturing and encouraging students’ opinions and perceptions. The Department is privileged to have dynamic, competent and young faculty members. Apart from formal lectures there are tutorial sessions, group discussions and students’ seminars. The introduction of PG Courses in 2017 marks a beginning of another phase in the Department. Last but not the least, The Department of English is one of the leading Departments in the college not only in academic areas but also in nurturing values and humane qualities to fulfill the demands of society.
