Principal's Message

Higher education provides leadership by supplying a well-developed human resource. Society demands essential attributes in graduate employees that she or he has good communication skill, ability to work in a team, effective time management, critical appraisal skill, etc.

Quality is an on-going multidimensional process. As products from HEIs will become the probable teacher (donour) or entrepreneur someday, the ‘quality’ becomes an integral part of the educational system. Therefore, it is imperative that each institution develop an efficient Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) system.

If our students don’t pick up the skills of analysis and critical thinking of application of principles and creative problem-solving – all the memorization and reproduction they may achieve in College will be in vain in the global culture and economy.
This has called for innovative methods of teaching in order to construct new knowledge in the classroom. It has also called for evaluation methods that are more demanding both on teacher and student. It has led to a renewed emphasis on research for faculty and to initiating a taste for research among students. The monitoring of this process by Heads of Departments and by Academic Administrators, in order to encourage good practices and to evaluate their effectiveness, gives hope of a renewal of academic culture on campus.

The cultural aspect has always been a strong-point of our College and it has an acknowledged role in moulding the personality, teaching soft-skills, developing leadership and management abilities and strengthening the Emotional Quotient (EQ). However if left optional, to the initiative of those inclined, many do not take the plunge. Extra-Curricular Credits for every student, monitored and encouraged by faculty and a group of students themselves. Participation in sports and other cultural activities has now become universal, contributing to an all-round formation – so much needed in our world.

Finally, we look to our alumni for inspiration and support and we find wonderful examples for our students to emulate. Excellence can be provoked, nourished and encouraged to bloom. Our faculty and students remain focused on a quality of education that will result in competence, conscience and compassionate commitment as our way of life!

Our college starts its journey in 1973 with a very small infrastructure and staff. Gradually huge infrastructure has been developed with several ICT enabled class rooms and a Virtual Class room. We have adopted Google education project which is beneficiary for both faculty and students. We follow some best practices like Academic Audit, Green Audit, Providing special remedial coaching classes, conducting coaching classes for qualifying NET/SET examinations for our Post Graduate students through carrier guidance cell of the college. we have introduced PG courses in English, Bengali, History and Music under Bankura University and going to introduce PG in Geography from the Academic Session 2019-20.

We organise Students’ Seminar, Students’ Project, Group discussions, Subject Quiz etc. regularly along with annual parent-teachers-students meet to help our beloved students find there difficulties and lacuna and to rectify them.

The college has been developing itself in many ways by utilising funds received from UGC, RUSA, State Government and our Donour members. A beautiful seminar hall, a big automated library with good number of books and journals, e-books and e-journals, having INFLIBNET facility and also the lending system is fully digitised. we have a well-equipped Gymnasium with modern machines and a yoga centre with trained instructor, well ventilated common room with indoor games facilities, a small playground and two big hostels with modern facilities and amenities within the campus. The office is fully automated. Wi-Fi facilities are available in the campus. The college has adopted ‘earn while learn ’scheme for the benefit of some poor and needy students. We provide free and half free-ships to the 10% of un-reserved students also.

Last but not the least, there is a beautiful, hassle free campus with conducive ambiance, free from polluting agents like tobacco, plastic etc. A very cordial relationship is there between the staff and students which make students and parents feel at home.
